We tend to think of canes as being used by the elderly. However, since the mid-16th c and running into the late 1920s or early 1930s, canes were a decorative accessory, that you would never leave the home without a good cane. They would have been carved from any number of species of wood, Horn, ivory, bamboo, ebony, tusks, or bone, porcelain, gold or silver etc. This one has a small decorative brass CAP on the knob and a very interesting finish on the wood shaft. Please note the curve to the shaft.
